    Features

The espresso machine is actually not just your average home coffee brewing machine. The Duo Temp Pro stands out with features you simply can not find among its close competitors.

    15 Pump Bar

The 15 pump bar brings excellent pre-infusion pressure to the freshly ground coffee puck. This process draws out the oils and flavours that make great-tasting coffee.

The Sage Duo low-pressure pre-infusion allows better control of the sweetness, acidity, and bitterness from each extraction.

    Digital PID Temperature Control

The Sage Duo Temp Pro Coffee Espresso Machine has a digital PID temperature control.

The 15-bar pressure, combined with the accurate heating gives a thorough pre-infusion.

This can make the espresso machine more attractive to a barista. This effect also ensures a consistently good cup of coffee.

The PID temperature control produces good extraction for a more favourable shot.

    Brushed Steel Exterior Casing

This stylish silver Sage Duo Temp Pro Machine has a durable construction that can positively impact it’s lifespan.

Since it’s stainless steel, you can rest assured that it won’t rust.

    1.7 L Detachable Water Tank

The 1.7 L detachable water tank fits well at the back of the Sage Temp Pro and is easy to refill.

However, because it’s a bigger tank, it needs refilling less often than other, smaller coffee machines.

This allows you to make around ten cups of coffee, depending on whether you make a single or double shot.

You’ll need to change the Sage Duo Temp Pro Water Filter regularly – just check in on any changes in your water quality over time. Wether you can wait weeks or months heavily depends on the water you use with the machine.

    The Steam Wand

The Steam Wand has 1600-watt elements that deliver creamy micro milk.

Presentation is key, and excellent microfoam allows you to showcase your coffee with great latte art in every cup.

The device comes with a fair-sized steel milk jug. The size allows you to work the wand in the swirling process that forms the best milk texture.

The silicone dial gives you full control of the steam time.

    Auto Purge

This feature is by far the best factor in the make-up of the Sage Duo Temp Pro Coffee Machine.

The machine requires higher temperatures for steaming than for making coffee.

It automatically cools down after steaming in preparation for making the next cup of coffee.

The Sage Duo is ready in a few seconds after steaming thanks to this function.

    The Portafilter

The Sage Duo Temp Pro has a 54 cm portafilter that fits neatly in the base top of the machine with a simple twist lock.

The magnetized tamper sits next to the portafilter, ready to tamp down the grounds for your next cup of coffee.

Razor dose being used on a portafilter
Along with the accessories, comes a razor dose trimming tool to measure out the ground coffee in the portafilter.

    The Drip Tray

The drip tray slips out easily for cleaning. There’s a neat storage tray behind it where you can keep your cleaning gear. The drip tray is steel and keeps your cup heated.

The Easy to Use Control Panel

The Sage Duo Temp Pro has a simple, user-friendly control panel. It has a power button on the left and a select button on the right to select either hot water or steam.

A centre dial allows you to switch between the steam wand and portafilter. Turn the knob left for coffee and right for steam.

You can also control the amount of coffee or steam. Simply switch the dial to standby when you’re done brewing coffee or steaming milk.

    Issues To Consider

We love the look, style, and class of the Sage Duo Temp Pro Espresso Machine, but let’s look at the darker side and play open cards on some low points.

    No Built-in Grinder

Although having a separate grinder is preferable, it’s an additional cost and takes up more space.

An integrated grinder is much cheaper and more convenient, but this device doesn’t have one.

You’ll need to buy a standalone grinder or buy ground coffee beans. However, the latter will compromise the freshness of your cup of coffee.

    Lack of Automatic functions

There are no automatic functions for switching off and controlling the single or double shot amount and steam time.

All these functions are manual and, for the beginner, finding the right measures of time, etc. will be a learning curve.

    The Tedious Cleanup

There’s no getting around it, the machine isn’t self-cleaning. That will become your job, and it’s an essential part of looking after your machine.

You’ll need to source the Sage Duo Temp Pro cleaning tablets to get a good clean out of the machine.

However, worry not: We have a great guide to descaling your espresso machine!

Setting Up The Sage Duo Temp Espresso Machine

Setting up a big machine like this one may feel a bit overwhelming.

However, most users report that it only takes about ten minutes to set up the machine and make your first cup of coffee.

Sage Duo Temp Pro Coffee Machine
The Sage Duo Temp Pro set up is kept simple and user-friendly.

Sage has made the set-up a simple process:

    1. Ensure that you have the Sage Duo Temp Pro plugged in and ready to go
    2. Detach the water tank at the back of the machine and fill it with water. Fit it back into the machine, and make sure it’s securely fitted.
    3. Remove the portafilter and fill it with a good measure of ground coffee. Then use the tamper to give it a good press for a firm puck.
    4. Use the razor dose trimming tool to take the excess grounds out of the portafilter.
    5. Place the portafilter back into the group head and ensure it’s locked into the machine.
    6. Press the power button for the machine to start the warm-up and place a cup underneath the spouts
    7. You’ll need to start the dose by turning the dial to the right.
    8. Once you have enough coffee (30 ml for a single shot and 60 ml for a double) turn the dial back to the middle for standby.
    9. For an Americano, you can pour hot water out of the steam wand. For frothing milk, have your milk jug ready with refrigerated milk.
    10. We suggest doing some research on how to froth milk to get the microfoam texture perfect for cappuccinos and flat whites.
